Thank you so much for awarding me the flash grant opportunity to purchase vertical white boards for my classroom! Research has shown that when students are working on erasable vertical work spaces, it not only increases student engagement, but also increases peer to peer collaboration/communication, knowledge mobility, and reduced hesitation to make mistakes. This grant has provided my students the opportunity to learn in new ways breaking the traditional pencil and paper method. By adding the vertical white boards to my class room it allows us the opportunity to do investigation based group work and collaborative opportunities. With these activities, my students will be able to learn not just from me, but also from one another to critically think through mathematical concepts.
