Lori is a graduate of Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts where she earned her BS in nursing. She then spent 40 years working in the emergency departments of Mercy Hospital in Benton Harbor, and Lakeland in St. Joseph. She has been an active member of the community, currently serving several organizations including Lakeshore Band Parents, Therapeutic Equestrian Center, and First Congregational Church of St. Joseph. She also has her own equine massage business, Northway Equine Sports Massage. She is married to her husband of 30 years, DeWayne, and has two children who are both Lakeshore graduates. Her son is currently a band instructor in the Lakeshore district. Her daughter is an English teacher in the Novi area, and currently a stay-at-home mom. In her free time, Lori loves spending time with her three grandchildren, being at the barn with her horses, gardening, and playing pickleball.
